On The Weird Winds of Ontario is a small collection of pieces from field recordings captured over the summer of 2019. Family camping trips, swimming lessons with the kids and other memorable moments have nestled themselves into a home within these tracks.
Some tracks bloom into guitar passages while others tend to lean in towards an organic drone.

There's subtleties abound throughout OTWWOO, samples of my son discussing from the backseat; his desire to not have or want a heart for example. There feels like a very vulnerable personal touch occupying this release. Perhaps not quite represented in previous releases.
A half-way line between the barrier of a stranger and the comfort from a close friend. The tracks here, present themselves like old photos.
Faded and lofi.

Aside from guitar sections, these soundscape tracks have all been created via tape loops on cassette and reel to reel. Mixed live and arranged to be recorded onto 1/4" tape for the nostalgic compression sound. Maintaining that classic dusty Hymns57 accent.

On The Weird Winds of Ontario now rests somewhere between a marker for the changing of season and the memory palace of days and moments gone by.

An inconspicuous favourite for many old and new fans of Hymns57.
